As a major Australian project, the Karara Iron Ore Project actively supports Australian Industry Participation (AIP) and as a result the project is a live project within the Project Connect website that is supported by ICNWA. Prime contractors or service providers interested in the project register with ProjectConnect (Free Registration) and monitor the site for package updates so that they can register their interests against the relevant scope of supply or services.
In addition, a Mid West Procurement Officer has been appointed to assist businesses seeking opportunities with emerging Mid West projects, including Karara.

The key roles of the Mid West Procurement Officer will be:
- Facilitating business-to-business engagement to ensure, where possible and practicable, that goods and services are purchased locally.
- Working with emerging mining companies to keep abreast of upcoming tenders and contracts, and advising businesses of these potential opportunities.
