Rail Construction Update
Under the supervision of the Public Transport Authority, KML is coordinating the rail construction on behalf of Gindalbie Metals and Ansteel in China.
On 1 December 2010, KML received authority to commence construction in certain areas along the proposed rail development corridor for the Tilley to Karara Rail Development. The new line will connect with the existing State-owned, WestNet-managed freight line at Tilley, provide rail access from Karara right through to the Port of Geraldton.
The works that have commenced include:
- Works within the minesite at the loop where the load out facility is
Cut to fill operations and installation of 2 culverts
- Clear and grub, and topsoil strip
