Scholarships

2012 Mid West University Scholoarship Program is now open

Mid West students considering a career in mining and resources will once again have the opportunity to apply for the exciting University Scholarship Program, launched for the first time earlier this year by Karara Mining Limited (KML).

The program is designed to create pathways for students to gain a long-term career with the Company, helping to address the skills shortage in the region and provide new employment opportunities for local communities. Six students were awarded scholarships in the inaugural 2011 program.

The University Scholarship Program is open to any student with a firm commitment to work at a professional level in a mining company, including the areas of geology, various engineering fields, finance, environmental science and health services. Both first time and existing university students will be considered.

The value of the scholarship is up to $15,000 for students studying for a three-year degree and $20,000 for students studying for a four-year degree, reimbursed at increasing amounts per annum on a semester basis to assist with the costs associated with studying. For those students who have already commenced their degree, the value of the scholarship will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

Eligible candidates must be Mid West residents studying at an Australian University for a career in mining and resources. Applications opened on Wednesday, 26 October 2011 and must be submitted by no later than Monday, 6 February 2012.Successful applicants will be notified by late February 2012.
