Gindalbie has a proven management team with a strong track record in the discovery and development of new mineral deposits. The Company continues to add depth to its iron ore expertise through the recruitment of additional suitably qualified board  members and executives.

David Southam
David Southam, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

Mr Southam is a Certified Practicing Accountant with more than 17 years’ experience in accounting, banking and finance across the resources and industrial sectors. Starting his career in chartered accounting firm Ferrier Hodgson, Mr Southam has also held senior finance and accounting positions with WMC Resources and ANZ Investment Bank.

He was most recently the Chief Financial Officer of Australian Western Railroad Pty Ltd, a company with annual revenues of $600m+ and around 900 employees. Before that he spent almost six years with Brambles Industries Limited in a number of financial executive roles including Brambles Industrial Services and CFO for Cleanaway Industrial in Melbourne both during and after its divestment from Brambles to one of the world’s largest private equity companies Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts (KKR). The role participated in all disciplines of the business including Safety, Operational, Commercial, Sales, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.

 
Andrew Munckton, BSc (Geology), M AusIMM
General Manager - Operations

Andrew Munckton graduated in Geology from the University of Western Australia in 1983. He has over 20 years industry experience principally in operations with Western Australian resource companies with particular exposure to gold and nickel.

His roles have included Senior Geologist and Chief Geologist for Pancontinental Mining and Goldfields Limited. He was also General Manager of Operations for Goldfields Limited, Auriongold and Placer dome at the Kundana, Paddington and Kanowna Belle gold operations.

He joined Gindalbie in 2003 and is currently the General Manager Operations with responsibility for all aspects of the development of the Karara Iron Ore Project.

 
Peter Freund, FAusImm, FAIM
General Manager – Karara Magnetite Project

Mr Freund is a mechanical engineer and a Fellow of both the AusIMM (Chartered Professional –Mgmt) and the Australian Institute of Management. He has a depth of mine development, ore processing and marketing experience gained over 30 years, including with BHP Whyalla Steel & Minerals (now OneSteel) as Construction/Commissioning Engineer at its iron ore pellet plant.

His most recent position was that of Executive Project Development Manager with Thiess Pty Limited in Australia, where he worked with the management of Australia’s only fully integrated steel maker to define viable concepts for development of their magnetite resources . As a result Mr Freund was successful in having Thiess selected to complete the feasibility study and as the contractor to build the beneficiation facilities, dedicated slurry transportation system and related export facilities, now under construction for that group.

Over his 30 year career, Mr Freund filled a number of executive positions with responsibility for new business development in heavy industry, mining and mineral processing projects with BHP and MIM Holdings.

 

 David Stokes
David Stokes, LLB, BBus
General Counsel and Company Secretary

Mr Stokes has over 10 years experience as a corporate/commercial lawyer in the energy and resources sector. Mr Stokes has worked in private practice and in corporate roles having acted for a number of substantial local and international energy and mining companies.

Mr Stokes joined Gindalbie in November 2006 after 3 ½ years at Iluka as Corporate Counsel. During that time Mr Stokes was responsible for establishing, developing and managing Iluka’s Australian legal function and was a member of the senior management team.

At Gindalbie Mr Stokes is now responsible for managing Gindalbie’s legal affairs both within Australia and China, and is also Gindalbie Metals' company secretary.

 Brian Conrick
Brian Conrick, LLM
Infrastructure and Contracts Manager

Mr Conrick has 25 years experience in resources and infrastructure contracting. His previous projects include the innovative Burton Coal Project contracts, the Head Contractor documentation for the Sydney Olympic Stadium and the first BOT contract undertaken in Western Australia.

Mr Conrick has a Master of Laws degree and qualified as a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  He is the author of the textbook Law of Negotiable Instruments and has published several articles on international commercial arbitration.

 Greg Kaeding
Greg Kaeding, B App. Sci.
Community Relations and Environment Manager

Mr Kaeding graduated from the Western Australian Institute of Technology with a multidisciplinary degree majoring in geology and chemistry. He has over 30 years industry experience having worked predominantly in environmental research, operational and management capacities in the Western Australian agricultural and resource sectors including exposure to alumina, mineral sands and nickel. He has had numerous roles as a member of management teams with particular responsibility for overseeing environment, health, safety and quality performance of operations at site and regional level.

After returning to Perth to mineral processing operations in the Kwinana industrial area in 2003, Mr Kaeding also chaired the Environment Committee of the Kwinana Industries Council and was an active participant in several industry advocacy bodies before joining Gindalbie in 2007 where he has Corporate responsibility for community relations and environment and is a member of the senior management team.

 Michael Weir
Michael Weir,
Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations Manager

Mr Weir has spent almost 20 years in business journalism and corporate public relations, developing extensive communications experience in the Australian financial markets and resources sector.

Mr Weir is a former multi award-winning business journalist and most recently spent more than a decade as a Senior Business Reporter with The West Australian. During that time he was also the presenter of The Mining and Money Show program on the mining radio network RedFM and wrote for several mining industry related publications.In the 1990s he spent three-and-a-half years as a partner in a corporate communications consultancy specialising in financial public relations for ASX-listed companies, particularly in the resources sector.
